Art is typically experienced through the senses of sight, sound and touch. In collaboration with my classmate and friend, Ioanna Kyridou, I created Osmi, a multi sensory project combining sight, smell, touch and taste. I created the outfit shown below, while she created a matching headpiece.
Inspired by the smell of wild herbs and the general feeling of the sea, I created an outfit comprised of a top and skirt. I used liquid latex to drape fabric, adding elements like seaglass, shells, dried herbs, beads, pottery pieces and sequins into this mixture to depict an abstract seashore.
We also collaborated in making a drink representing our reminiscence on our culture. The recipe can be found below. Each note and ingredient evokes a feeling we wanted to recreate. For example, the dried herb infused syrup give the drink a distinct depth and richness, which could be likened to a grandma's house. In contrast, the sparkling water links the drink to the sea, providing freshness and even saltiness.
